STRESS!!!
Introduction Do you know someone who is stressed out? Are you constantly in a state of stress? What are some of the feelings a person under constant stress feels? How does the body react? What are ways to release the stress in a healthy way? What are some of the unhealthy ways people release stress? Stress levels are on the rise among adolescents for a variety of reasons - parents, friends, school, work, self, money, significant others - and it is having a telling effect on youth today. In this web quest you will research some of the causes of stress among adolescents, what stress does to the body, as well as ways to deal with the stress.
Task
You will become an expert about stress, what it does to the body, and stress management techniques that work. You wil;l also become familiar with negative ways to deal with stress and why they are not healthy manners in which to do so.
Become familiar with the types of stress that student encounter on a daily basis, including, but not limited to:
academic pressure
pressure to fit in with a particular group by adopting their fashion or lifestyle
peer pressure to try drugs or alcohol
relationships
conflicts with parents or siblings
violence/bullying
schedule overload
tests
sports / extra-curricular activities

- You will create a 5-10 slide PowerPoint presentation that illlustrates a 5 different stressful or anxiety-inducing situations and provide strategies for coping with the situation.
- Students will use the 5 topics above that you have created. Create a presentation that describes their chosen issue and provide a minimum of three ways to cope with each situation in a healthy emotional and/or physical manner and a minimum of three coping strategies that might produce negative results.
